Hi there! I'm Nicole Writz (Fish), and my husband Mikey and I moved to Monticello in 2018. A proud graduate of Monticello schools in 1993, I have a deep-rooted connection to this community. My husband hails from Abbotsford, WI. In January 2024, we bought our bar and restaurant to pursue my passion for cooking and to introduce people to both comfort food and unique dishes they may have never tried before. Our goal is to create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

When we first bought the bar, it had the bare minimum—some of you might remember the lack of light fixtures! Through hard work and dedication, we were able to revamp the space and began serving food in June. King Bubba’s is named after our beloved 5-year-old basset hound, Bubba. We couldn't imagine doing this without including him in our journey.

We love having fun with different drink and food options, always coming up with some creative concoctions. Our offerings include a wide variety of drinks, healthy non-alcoholic options, and delicious ice cream drinks. We proudly feature Wisconsin-based products, including local wines, produce, and meat.
